The inertization with noble gases: nitrogen, aligal etc, is a safe method to constantly maintain a protective layer of gas on top of the wine avoiding its oxidation.
When the wine is not kept under an inert atmosphere, the wineries have many small volume tanks so that the wine does not come into contact with the air since the emptying is faster.
With inert gas, there is no volume limitation, since there is no risk of oxidation.
Nitrogen is the most used gas, cheap, easy to handle, not very soluble and without color or flavor, it is presented in bottles / cylinders of high pressure or it is produced with a nitrogen generator.
Necessary elements for the deposit inertization process: service station, channeling, valves and inert gas.
Service station its main task is the control of the double effect valve of each tank, ensuring that when it is filled or emptied, the gas content will be automatically compensated to maintain the protective layer.
To guarantee the volumetric compensation, it is tested directly in the tank during the
filling and emptying operations.
This type of installation is suitable in storage systems for gravity emptying or by low capacity pumps for later distribution
to plant.
Thanks to the inertization, the optimal conservation of the liquid is achieved without organoleptic alterations.
